The federal government needs to invest in its promise to protect nature!

Right now, we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to rebuild a more resilient Canada that is better for our health, the economy, and nature. This is what the federal government has promised to do, and it is time to invest in that promise.

The federal government is currently deciding how to allocate our hard-earned tax dollars in the 2021 federal budget. To embrace this opportunity to build back better, the federal government must make investment decisions to:

  • End fossil fuel subsidies and shift spending to a Green and Just Recovery;
  • Deliver strong climate legislation, ambitious climate targets, and policies that enable climate justice;
  • Protect 25% of land and ocean by 2025 and support Indigenous-led conservation; and
  • Expand and leverage nature-based climate solutions.

We are facing an urgent nature crisis on both a national and global scale. We need Canada’s leaders to deliver on their commitments! This means allocating enough funding for bold initiatives to protect nature, with clear deadlines and accountability.

Send a letter to let your elected representatives know that you demand a Green and Just Recovery.

CPAWS is joining environmental groups across Canada for One Earth One Voice – a campaign to rally our supporters to urge the federal government to prioritize a Green and Just Recovery.

Your letter will be sent to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland. A copy will also go to your Member of Parliament. Please note that to keep our message consistent and show a united front through one voice we have not made the letter editable.
