A better future for all is within reach – Canada needs a Green Recovery!

The federal government is about to give the Canadian economy a multi-billion-dollar kick-start in an effort to recover from the COVID-19 crisis.

CPAWS is joining environmental groups across Canada for One Earth One Voice – a campaign to rally our supporters to urge the federal government to prioritize a Green Recovery. Right now, we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to rebuild a society that is better for our health, the economy, and nature.

A better society includes new and more effectively managed protected areas on land and in the ocean, Indigenous protected areas and stewardship programs, and a shift towards natural infrastructure and nature-based climate solutions. These actions will conserve the country’s ecosystems and species, help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, build resilience to climate change, and support the country’s economy and our mental and physical health.

Recognizing these benefits, the federal government reaffirmed its commitments in June to protect 25% of Canada’s land and ocean by 2025 and 30% by 2030, and to implement nature-based solutions for climate change. Now they need to invest in nature as part of Canada’s Green Recovery.

Tell the federal government that you demand they invest in a Green Recovery.

Your letter will be sent to all members of the Cabinet of Canada and copied to your Member of Parliament.
