Your voices were heard on protecting New Brunswick’s Nature!

Over this past year we called on you, our supporters, to take action and let the provincial government know that they needed to increase New Brunswick’s protected areas. At the time, New Brunswick had the worst record in Canada for protecting nature, with less than 5% of the province protected.

All provinces have said they will work together to protect at least 17% of Canada for nature by 2020. The federal government made a historic budget investment of $1.3 billion over five years to protect more nature across Canada. The funds are there for New Brunswick to participate and protect nature.

We are happy to announce that your voices were heard! New Brunswick has committed to protecting 10% of the province by 2020!  We anticipate that the plan will include establishing the Restigouche Wilderness Waterway Park, among other important natural areas!

This will be the largest increase in protected areas in New Brunswick’s history! We want to invite you to join us and thank the provincial government for this step forward in conservation.

Send an email letting our government know you appreciate this commitment to conservation! Show them you are watching for next steps and real action.
