Moose may soon disappear completely from some parts of Manitoba, where the population has dropped by as much as 57 percent. The numbers aren’t much better for the province as a whole. The best estimate from wildlife experts is that less than 20,000 moose currently roam our woods. That’s down from around 45,000 in the 1960s. Take action now to protect this iconically Canadian creature before it's too late. Premier Wab Kinew Government of Manitoba Dear Premier: We need your help to save Manitoba’s moose. These majestic creatures aren’t just keystones of our boreal ecosystems -- they’re also important to our culture, our provincial economy, and for many, food security. Moose population management initiatives need to act faster to get the dramatic decline in our moose population under control.
