Dear Ministers, Saskatchewan’s native grasslands are home to thousands of species of plants and animals, including many endangered species, but remain the most endangered ecosystem on earth. Grassland destruction, corporate agriculture, and droughts don’t just put thousands of plants and animals at risk; they threaten communities, increase the risk of wildfires, jeopardize food security and livestock grazing, damage local economies, and take away access for harvesting and hunting. Our native grasslands should be protected, not put up for sale. I am calling on you to take immediate action to stop destroying Canada’s native grasslands and start listening to communities, ranchers, and farmers who want to protect, restore, and manage these critical landscapes.
