Prioritize Conservation in Budget 2025

CPAWS Manitoba commends the Manitoba government for engaging citizens in shaping the 2025 provincial budget. While addressing healthcare, affordability, and family services are undeniably critical priorities, the conservation of lands and waters must also be at the forefront of budget planning to ensure a sustainable future for all Manitobans.

We urge all Manitobans to tell the Minister of Finance that the conservation of our lands and waters must be a top priority.

As a Manitoban who values our province’s natural beauty, I urge you to prioritize the conservation of Manitoba’s lands and waters in Budget 2025. The government’s commitment to protecting 30% of our lands and waters by 2030 is essential for combating climate change, preserving biodiversity, and supporting the well-being of future generations.

Investing in conservation efforts not only protects our environment but also strengthens our economy through sustainable tourism, job creation, and enhanced resilience to climate-related challenges. Now is the time to act decisively to protect what makes Manitoba extraordinary.

Achieving 30x30 requires a historic level of investment in conservation, far above what’s been allocated in past budgets. Please ensure Budget 2025 provides the financial resources required to fully undertake this ambitious and much needed initiative.
