Protect Ontario’s Iconic Algonquin wolf

The Algonquin wolf, also known as the Eastern wolf, is in danger and not enough is being done to protect it.

Of the estimated 250 Algonquin wolves alive in the world today, about two thirds live in Ontario. A loss of habitat from climate change, increasingly abundant coyote populations, as well as hunting and trapping have taken their toll on the population. While endangered species legislation bans the hunting and trapping of most species which fall under the Species at Risk act, the Algonquin wolf is exempt.

Join us in asking the Government of Ontario to accept the recommendations of the report released last week (read report) and to take steps to immediately ban the hunting and trapping of wolves and coyotes throughout the Algonquin wolf’s range.
